Elevation Outreach

Archive for November, 2011

We are inspired today by YOU and your service and generosity.  Through the month of November, you stepped up to show the love of Jesus all over our city.

You’re making his name famous through your faith and service.  More than 1,000 volunteers served more than 3,000 hungry people.  You prayed with people, you laughed with people.  You brought JOY all over all city.  And we know you’re ready for more.

We’ve got three great outreach opportunities for you to choose from this weekend.  We continue to build a #HomefortheHolidays in West Charlotte for a working single mother and her daughter.  Drywall is going up this Friday and Saturday and we’ve got space available for volunteers Friday only.  Habitat for Humanity experts are on-site to help you.  No experience required!

There is also space for volunteers to help build the home next week on the 8th and 9th as we wrap up construction.  That’s painting as we get to work inside.

We are thrilled this Saturday to also have the opportunity to serve our friends at Crisis Assistance Ministry in a big way.  We are helping them move their furniture bank to a new, larger location.  There is room for a few eGroups or eTeams to really step up and make this a fun few hours of service together.

And we’re grateful to have the opportunity Saturday to support the local Arthritis Foundation in this Saturday’s Jingle Bell Run at the Blakeney Shopping Center.  Runners, we’ll pay your entry fee, so get signed up before all the spots are gone!

How do you keep up with outreach opportunities like these?  Subscribe to the blog by clicking the tab on the right – bookmark the “Join the Movement” page – or stop the orange tent at any Elevation location.  See you this weekend!

Coats + Blankets

Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at Elevation Church!

As we give thanks this week, we have an opportunity to remember our neighbors in need.

Before the worst of the cold hits this winter, you can help warm up the Charlotte area.  We’ve seen a stunning jump in homelessness, and our strategic outreach partners tell us there is a desperate need for cold weather gear.  Together, we’re going to help meet that need.

This weekend, at every Elevation Church location, we are collecting coats and blankets to serve our area’s most vulnerable neighbors.  This past winter, homeless advocates counted more than 6,800 people living in area shelters or without a safe, consistent place to sleep.  More than half of those were children!

So bring your new or gently used coats and blankets to church this weekend.  We’ll collect them, and get them to those who need them most.  Our goal is 5,000 articles.

Thank you for your generosity, church – together, we are changing the world!

And remember, Pastor Steven is back this weekend to preach for a second week in our “Found Favor” series.  You can email your friends or family members an invite by clicking here.

We look forward to seeing you in church this weekend!

Elevation Rock Hill Responds

ROCK HILL – When a deadly tornado tore through York County last week, Elevation Rock Hill location Pastor Frank Bealer wanted to know how he could help.

Quickly rounding up volunteers and donations, Bealer teamed up with the Red Cross, Oakdale Baptist Church and Lee’s Chicken to help in the relief effort.

More than twenty volunteers stepped up to serve lunch to firefighters, other relief workers and neighbors impacted by the storm.

According to the Rock Hill Herald, the American Red Cross says donations for the families impacted by the tornado have been flowing in from all over the state.  They say the local response to the storm’s damage has been “stunning.”

A Child’s Place

Thanks to your generosity, we gave “A Child’s Place” a check for $20,500 this past week.  It’s part of your church’s commitment to give 12% of everything that comes in, right back out into the community through outreach.

We serve.  We give.  It’s who we are.

Check out the video below to hear more about “A Child’s Place.”  And click the “Join the Movement” tab to see how you can plug in to serve homeless children in our city.  New opportunities are being added EVERY day!

Planning for LOVE Week 2012

CRAZY for LOVE Week 2012

by Julie Smith -

LOVE Week is fewer than three months away, and we are gearing up as the New Year quickly approaches.
We are already busy planning opportunities with churches all over the Charlotte area to see how we can continue to love our city in 2012 in a BIG way.
We know that God will move mightily during LOVE Week and we are expectant for what is to come!
The need is great.  Close to 7,000 men, women, and children in Mecklenburg County have been identified as homeless.  And Charlotte faced a painful statistic – earning the title of city with the second-largest homeless population growth in the country!
So there is much work to be done.  Our goal for LOVE Week 2012 is crazy.
Seriously.  If we told you, you’ll think we’ve lost our minds.  So believe with us as we seek God to make the impossible, possible.
Whether you have a green thumb, love to bake up a storm, or can run nearly a mile, there is an opportunity for you to serve during LOVE Week 2012.
For LOVE Week 2012, be prepared to break out your hammer and put on your hard hat. We are going to be doing some major remodeling, building, and landscaping all over Charlotte especially in some places that you just might drive by everyday on your way to work.
Specific neighborhoods have been identified that are in need of a little love (well, a lot of love) and we are ready to pour out blessing upon those communities through your generosity, servant hearts, and helping hands.
So stay tuned for more details of how you can get involved and don’t forget to mark your calendars for February 11th-19th for opportunities you won’t want to miss.
