33,000+ HOURS HEADED INTO THE FINAL WEEKEND
Across the region Saturday and Sunday, 99 events are planned to finish LOVE Week 2012.
Working together this week, more than 100 area churches and non-profit organizations have built a house, stocked food pantry and clothing closet shelves, refreshed and refurbished neighborhoods, fed hungry and homeless neighbors, danced the night away with seniors, honored teachers, firefighters, and police, and so much more.
We plan to finish strong this weekend with 1,903 volunteers signed up to serve.
Many events are full – here are the TOP TEN still needing volunteers.
Stuff the Truck – Remember to clean out your closets and bring gently-used items to any Elevation location to “stuff the truck.” We’re taking new shoes, new school uniforms, and any gently-used items to bless our outreach partners.
Byers Elementary School Beautification – Join us in partnership with Hands On Charlotte as we improve the grounds of Byers Elementary. It’s a family-friendly event from 10am-1pm.
Birchcroft Cookout and Job Fair – Join us from 12-4pm as we partner with Renovatus church to serve lunch and help refugees fill out job applications.
One7 Cleanup – Join us 9-Noon as we help our friends at One7 clean up their brand new site. This inner-city youth ministry is a family favorite as a game of soccer or football always breaks out at a One7 event.
Samaritan’s Feet Shoes of Hope – One of the best kid-friendly opportunities has been sorting shoes at the Samaritan’s Feet warehouse. Saturday from 9-4 you get to be a part of actually giving away 1,000 pairs of shoes at Druid Hills Elementary School.
Purple Heart Homes Walk/Run/Couples Relay – This 10k event in Statesville is an opportunity to support an organization that provides personalized housing solutions for veterans injured in service to our country.
Pregnancy Resource Center – From 9-noon volunteers will help clean and paint with this outreach partner that provides compassionate care for those facing an unintended pregnancy.
Urban Ministry Center – This outreach partner that supports our homeless neighbors has a location on Rachel street. They’re looking for painting help. Join us from 10am-3pm.
Blood Drive – On Sunday you’ll have the opportunity to give blood at Elevation Blakeney, University, Providence, and Rock Hill.
Neighborhood Blitz – Saturday morning, join your campus staff at nearby parks or YMCA locations to help clean up the area right around your Elevation location.
