“If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of the sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.” – Proverbs 3:24-26
As this season of my internship comes to a close, I just want to share with all of you a taste of my experience here at Elevation. Throughout this summer my eyes have truly been opened to the hurting and broken world right here at our doorsteps. However, being a part of outreach has shown me that there is always hope in Christ. My day to day is not just clocking in and out, but rather it is a brand new opportunity to see God move in miraculous ways.
Elevation Church currently partners with 47 outreach organizations in order to reach the city of Charlotte, as well as the rest of the world. I’ve been so blessed to have been able to work with many of these places. One organization has really stuck out to me this summer due to its capacity and vision to change people’s lives. Crisis Assistance Ministry, an organization right here in Charlotte, is dedicated to walking people through and out of financial crisis.
Every morning, hundreds of people line the sidewalk to meet with volunteer counselors who will help them create a budget and find assistance to pay for rent, food, water, etc. Through this organization I have definitely been taught a very new perspective towards outreach. This is a system that doesn’t just apply a Band-Aid, but actually creates a personalized plan of action to reach financial stability. I highly encourage people to get involved with this life changing ministry!
If there is one thing I’ve learned this summer it is that God is faithful even in the trials of life. He will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
My once darkened house became a violent light
A light of glory the whole world could see
A vision of holiness that is dangerously pure
For God is not a god who burns down
But the God who burns up
